Once more, I am sharing the new monthly Elvis news video by Emiel Maier. He does a good job every month with a new Elvis video of current happenings. I always extend my compliments to him for his steadfast and hard work.
As I have stated before, I won’t be a big fan of the Elvis holograms. But to each his own.

My long-time good friend Chris S. shared the interview with J. D. Sumner below with me. I enjoyed it, and I believe my visitors will also. My thanks to Chris for sending this to me.

This is a photo taken when I met J. D. I had just thanked him for going on the Geraldo show to disprove Dee Presley’s lies about Elvis. He broke into a big smile when I said that and hugged me. Sweet memories.

Once, when Jesse and I were speaking on the phone, he told me that he had been on the phone with J. D., and they were talking about me and that J. D. did know who I was. That made me feel good. There was a rather complicated reason that J. D. would have known of me related to some of the material that I had shared in my newsletter about someone who was later hired by J. D. I have lived a very long and complicated adventure.

Below is a fascinating article filled with some special photos that I enjoyed and hope you will, too. This article was shared with me by a long-time very good friend, Deb O. I thank her so very much for contributing this to our website.
15 Oddball Things That Happened the Day Elvis Was Drafted
Here is a list of 15 strange and surprising events that coincided with Elvis getting his draft notice, proving that truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.
Radio Stations Declared “National Mourning”

Several radio stations across America dramatically declared a “national day of mourning” upon hearing Elvis had been drafted. DJs wore black armbands on air, played Elvis songs non-stop for 24 hours, and some stations even draped their buildings with black fabric as if a national tragedy had occurred.
One Memphis station played ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ on repeat for eight straight hours.
Colonel Parker’s Suspicious Calm

Elvis’s infamous manager Colonel Tom Parker appeared oddly quiet over the whole affair as fans panicked. He was alleged to be eating breakfast when reporters asked for remark, and he only said, “Good.
This might generate a million dollars in exposure.’ Before the draft notice ever arrived, Parker had already been scheming how to profit off Elvis’s military service.
Marriage Proposals Skyrocketed

The day Elvis’s draft notice hit the newspapers, he received over 5,000 marriage proposals from female fans. The bizarre logic was that married men with dependents could avoid the draft.
Some women even showed up at Graceland with wedding dresses and marriage licenses, hoping Elvis would choose them to help him dodge military service.
A Fan Club Offered to Send Substitutes

The Memphis Elvis Presley Fan Club made a truly strange offer: they gathered 8,000 signatures of young men willing to take Elvis’s place in the Army. They formally presented this petition to the draft board, which promptly rejected it, explaining that’s not how the draft system worked.
The president of the fan club then tried to argue that Elvis was too important to America’s morale to be drafted.
Haircut Insurance Policy

A barber in Memphis took out an actual insurance policy worth $10,000 against the possibility that he might be chosen to cut Elvis’s hair for the Army. The nervous barber feared his hands would shake too much when faced with removing Elvis’s famous pompadour, and he might accidentally cut the star.
Lloyd’s of London reportedly underwrote this bizarre policy.

Presley’s Blood-Soaked Handkerchiefs

When Elvis reported for his pre-induction physical, fans gathered outside the building. As he wiped sweat from his brow with a handkerchief and accidentally dropped it, several teenage girls dove for it, tearing it into pieces.
A Memphis newspaper reported that some fans claimed the handkerchief had traces of Elvis’s perspiration, and they preserved their fragments in plastic bags as precious relics.
The Stock Market Dipped

In a strange economic ripple effect, the stock of RCA Records (Elvis’s label) temporarily dropped nearly 5% the day after the news broke. Financial analysts noted this was likely due to investor concerns about future record sales during his military service.
Some jukebox manufacturers also saw minor stock slides, proving Elvis’s cultural impact extended even to Wall Street.
A Congressional Exemption Attempt

A Tennessee congressman actually introduced a special bill attempting to exempt Elvis from military service, arguing he was “essential to national morale.” The bill didn’t even make it to a vote, but it demonstrated the extraordinary lengths some were willing to go.
The congressman later claimed it was partly a publicity stunt, but he genuinely believed Elvis boosted American spirits.

The Simultaneous “Good Luck Charm” Mail Flood

On the exact same day Elvis received his draft notice, he also experienced another strange coincidence: over 2,000 good luck charms arrived at Graceland from fans who had no idea about the draft. Items included rabbit’s feet, four-leaf clovers, horseshoes, and even a vial of water supposedly from the Fountain of Youth.
Elvis reportedly kept many of these items in a special collection.
Psychic’s Eerie Prediction

A Memphis psychic named Madame Zelda had predicted in a local newspaper exactly one week before that “a great shock will come to the city’s favorite son.” After the draft notice, she became an overnight celebrity, with people lining up around the block for readings.
She later claimed she’d seen Elvis in an Army uniform in a vision months before the official notice.
The “Patriotic Haircut” Trend

In a strange display of solidarity, hundreds of teenage boys across America requested what barbers dubbed the “patriotic cut”, essentially asking to have their hair styled like they imagined Elvis’s military haircut would look. This trend started the very day after the draft announcement, with barbers reporting young men specifically asking for “the Elvis Army cut.”

Elvis Doubles Materialized

Within 48 hours of Elvis’s draft notice, at least seven men in different parts of America claimed they were being hired as “Elvis substitutes” to fulfill performance contracts while the real Elvis served. None were officially sanctioned, but several small venues actually booked these impersonators, creating the first wave of what would eventually become the Elvis impersonator industry.
The Pressley Family Mix-up

In a bizarre administrative error, the draft board in Tupelo, Mississippi initially sent a notice to an Ernest Pressley (note the spelling difference), causing temporary confusion. This unfortunate man received hundreds of phone calls from reporters before the mistake was clarified.
For years afterward, he dined out on stories of his “almost famous” day.
The Unusual Military Request

The day after Elvis’s draft notice became public, Army recruiting stations reported an unusual 30% spike in voluntary enlistments from young men. When interviewed, many specifically mentioned hoping to serve alongside Elvis.
The Army had to issue a statement clarifying that requesting specific assignments or fellow soldiers wasn’t possible.

Global Press Coverage Overshadowed International Crisis

Perhaps the strangest aspect of Elvis’s draft notice was how it dominated global headlines, overshadowing a brewing international diplomatic crisis. Major newspapers around the world devoted front-page coverage to Elvis’s draft notice while relegating important Cold War developments to inside pages.
The New York Times ran an editorial questioning whether America’s priorities had gone astray.
The Legacy Lives On

The day Elvis got his draft notice wasn’t just weird, it was a cultural turning point that revealed how deeply one performer had penetrated American society. From economics to fashion to politics, Elvis’s influence touched virtually every aspect of life.
While his two-year military service temporarily paused his skyrocketing career, it ultimately helped transform him from a controversial youth icon into a respected, mainstream entertainer who could appeal to multiple generations.

‘AGT’ judges stunned after one contestant brought Elvis Presley back in the most spectacular way

The 2022 season finale of ‘America’s Got Talent‘ was gripped with AI fever when it witnessed Elvis Presley come alive on stage for thundering performances of ‘Hound Dog’ and ‘Devil in Disguise.’ The 60s-inspired concert stunned the audience further when digital versions of Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum, providing backing vocals, joined the King of Rock ‘n Roll. Meanwhile, Simon Cowell remained transfixed during the act, while a deepfake of Cowell performed a duet with Presley. As per Voicebot.ai, Presley’s life-like AI version was developed by Hollywood’s latest synthetic media developer, Metaphysic. The digital version mimicked the actions of singer Emilio Santoro, who paid tribute to the ‘Jailhouse Rock’ legend on the stage. Respeecher, a synthetic voice startup, managed Presley’s vocals.

Below, I am sharing a link to a live stream of many YouTube videos presented by one channel. The topic of this presentation is whether Elvis faked his death. Elements of this compilation of videos and topics have been part of my own accumulated proof for many years, since the 1980s. I am familiar with many topics and have researched them myself. There are other elements in this series of videos that I have discounted from the truth about Elvis/Jesse. One such topic is the misconception that Bob Joyce is Elvis.
I do NOT accept any aspect of the Bob Joyce is Elvis fallacy. I do KNOW that Jesse is Elvis and that Bob Joyce is NOT Jesse.
This presentation on YouTube is an open chat where visitors may post their thoughts on the topic of whether Elvis did fake his death.

I am sad to report that Wink Martindale has passed away. Elvis fans will recall his interactions with Elvis.
Wink Martindale, Popular and Durable Game Show Host, Dies at 91
He was involved in more than 20 game shows, most memorably as the host of “Gambit” and “Tic-Tac-Dough” in the 1970s and ’80s.

Wink Martindale, a radio personality who became a television star as a dapper and affable host of game shows like “Gambit” and “Tic-Tac-Dough” in the 1970s and ’80s and “Debt” in the ’90s, died on Tuesday in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He was 91.
Nashville Publicity Group, which represented him, announced the death in a statement. A spokesman said he died in a hospital.
A veteran of the game show circuit, Mr. Martindale was involved in more than 20 shows, as either a producer or a host.
His first game show, in 1964, was “What’s This Song?,” on which contestants paired with celebrities to identify tunes for cash prizes. The show was short-lived, as were many others he experimented with.
Mr. Martindale also had a separate career as a vocalist, recording about 20 singles and seven albums. His 1959 spoken-voice narrative recording, “Deck of Cards,” the tale of a young American soldier in North Africa who is arrested and charged with playing cards during a church service, sold more than a million copies, earning him a gold record from the Recording Industry Association of America. “Deck of Cards” also brought him an appearance on Ed Sullivan’s variety show
Mr. Martindale received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006 and was one of the first inductees into the American TV Game Show Hall of Fame in 2007. In recent years he was a frequent guest on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show.
He credited some of his success to his distinctive nickname.
“When I was a kid in Jackson, Tennessee, one of my playmates, Jimmy McCord, couldn’t say ‘Winston,’ which is my given name, and he had a speech impediment, and it came out sounding like ‘Winky,’” Mr. Martindale told ABC News in 2014. “So Winston turned into Winky, and then I got into the business and Wink! It served me well, and I just kept Wink all these years.”

He later ascended to WHBQ in Memphis, a powerhouse station in the South, where in 1954 he notably helped secure an on-air interview with Elvis Presley — by calling his mother — after the release of Presley’s first record, “That’s All Right.” (The interview itself was conducted by the station’s well-known D.J. Dewey Phillips.)

EXCLUSIVE: Elvis Presley’s Heart-Wrenching Secret Acts of Kindness Revealed — How He Gave Away Millions As He Wanted to Live Up to ‘Comic Book Hero’ Dream
By Bryan Brunati,
Elvis Presley had another side of him the media didn’t exactly touch on. MEGA
Elvis Presley may have been living the high life thanks to his massive fortune, but the King of Rock and Roll also made sure to give away millions of dollars in acts of kindness that were never publicized.
From paying a sick child’s medical bills to helping victims of a tornado, Presley was all about giving back, RadarOnline.com can reveal.
Presley was all about helping those in need. MEGA
“When I was a boy, I always saw myself as a hero in comic books and movies,” the Burning Love hitmaker once revealed. “I grew up believing this dream.”
Growing up poor, Presley made it his focus to help those in need when he hit the big time, including reaching out to sick children. One instance, in 1957, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital founder Danny Thomas requested the iconic rocker appear as a special guest in his Shower of Stars , a charity event he had organized in Memphis to raise funds in order to build what today is the most important medical and research center for kids with cancer
Presley’s appearance led to donors from three states to attend, and construction on the building began soon after.
The singer paid for his fans’ medical bills and even paid off some of their debts. MEGA
Presley made a personal visit to an injured little girl in California in 1964, after reading she was in need of a wheelchair following an accident. The entertainer bought a wheelchair and delivered it to the child himself.
In 1968, the singer allowed one of his Rolls-Royces to be auctioned off for a charity that assisted children with mental disabilities. Presley also donated to various other organizations including Braille Institute of America, American Cancer Society, Father Flanagan’s Boys Town of Nebraska, Motion Picture Relief Fund, Muscular Dystrophy Association, United Cerebral Palsy and others.
Seven years later, Presley Elvis performed in Jackson, Mississippi, helping raise more than $100,000 for victims of a tornado – Presley was impacted by a tornado as a child when one ran through his hometown in Tupelo, Mississippi, leaving many dead.
Presley also answered fans who reached out to him looking for help, quietly stepping up and paying off people’s debts. One woman was about to lose her home, so Presley is said to have paid off her mortgage. He also covered a stranger’s medical bills when he learned they couldn’t afford life-saving surgery.
The Suspicious Minds singer even covered funeral expenses for numerous fans and friends who couldn’t afford proper burials for their loved ones.
Despite skyrocketing to fame and becoming one of the biggest names in the music industry, Presley never forgot the people who helped him get to the top.
The ‘Suspicious Minds’ singer even covered funeral expenses for fans who couldn’t afford to bury their loved ones. MEGA
Presley is believed to have given his first band, the Blue Moon Boys, financial support long after they stopped touring together, doing all he could to make sure they were never in need.
In the 1950s, while segregation was still ingrained in the South, Presley once again stepped up, especially after seeing a Black woman being denied service at a gas station.
Presley – who was outspoken about racial injustice – ended up paying for her gas as well as giving her extra cash to ensure she was safe.
Presley was notable for speaking out against racial injustice. MEGA

I always heard that Elvis thought that Roy Orbison had the perfect voice, but I have never read an article about that until I read the news article below in Far Out Magazine. Of course, I have to disagree because, to me, only Elvis has the perfect voice.

The singer Elvis Presley thought had “the perfect voice”
Emerging as the biggest name in the 1950s rock ‘n’ roll scene, Elvis Presley became one of the first-ever globalised superstars. He awakened a new potential for what we now know and live as pop culture. As the Beatles’ John Lennon once famously remarked, “Before Elvis, there was nothing”. Presley’s musical career blossomed through the decade, with US record shops turning over vast, unprecedented profits from his hotcake singles.
Then, the tap was turned off. In December 1957, Presley was drafted into the US Army. While the proud patriot might have quipped, “The Army can do anything it wants with me,” when he was honourably discharged in March 1960, the world had moved on, and his second chapter was one of diminished returns. Rock ‘n’ roll had evolved for a few years without him, and the ‘British Invasion’ was just around the corner, waiting to dethrone.
However, the appeal of some of the old favourites proved pervasive. In 1956, Roy Orbison was signed by Sun Records, Presley’s formative label, and alongside the likes of Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis, began to make a name for himself. Unlike Presley, Orbison liked to write his own lyrics. One of his early ambitions was to have Presley sing one of his songs, and in 1960, as the King returned from his military duties, Orbison made his move.
Understandably, Orbison saw Presley as the perfect man to take on his new anthem, ‘Only the Lonely’, full of soaring sentiment and enough swing for Presley’s potent timbre to work with. After getting in contact with the star, however, he was disheartened to receive a polite rejection. Sadly, Orbison received a similar response after pitching the track to The Everly Brothers. Consequently, a little-known Orbison ended up putting the single out himself in May 1960.
The success the unlikely star saw was rapid. On October 20th, 1960, Orbison’s quivering croon saw ‘Only the Lonely’ strike the top of the UK singles chart after reaching a peak at number two in the US. Needless to say, Presley will have felt a little regret as he reviewed the stats, but overall, he was happy for his fellow Sun Records alumnus.
In many ways, they were allies. Their more traditional blend of pop and rock defied the zeitgeist of rocking psychedelia. Above all, they were also virtuosos—both knew that while their ‘cool’ cache wasn’t quite competing anymore, they could crank out a tune and have an audience swoon all the same.
Through the 1960s, the pair’s friendship blossomed and during one of Presley’s famous Las Vegas concerts, he described Orbison as having the “perfect voice” and called him the “greatest singer in the world.” Presley wasn’t one to offer lavish praise all that often, but for Orbison, he made an exception—how couldn’t he?
In a return of praise, Orbison reflected upon seeing Presley perform in Odessa for the first time in February 1955, and how it inspired him to take a swing at making music himself. “His energy was incredible; his instinct was just amazing,” he recalled in a 1980 interview. “I just didn’t know what to make of it. There was just no reference point in the culture to compare it.”
Presley would go on to perform a cover of Orbison’s crooning classic ‘Are You Lonesome Tonight?’ But beyond that, he always kept a keen eye on how the bespectacled star was able to still make his more classically-inclined tunes heard in a changing world. The answer for Presley was always the same, he had the perfect voice. That’s very, very high praise, indeed.
