Want an up-close and personal experience with the entertainer who changed the course of popular music? Elvis Presley, “the King of Rock and Roll,” who sold an unparalleled 1 billion records, will be shown in exquisite footage for “Elvis: Seen/Unseen – Live Onscreen” at the Wellmont Theater on Oct. 30.

This one-of-a-kind concert experience features special appearances from Priscilla Presley and longtime Elvis associate Jerry Schilling, who will share intimate stories and personal photos, plus rare home movies.

The show, which marks 50 years since Elvis’ triumphant return to live performance (1969 Las Vegas residency), includes never-before-seen footage and will find The King singing likable tunes alongside the TCB Band (live). TCB was originally hand-picked by the mega-star himself and includes Glen Hardin, Ronnie Tutt and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer James Burton.

On the concert experience, Priscilla Presley said, “We’re back and better than ever! I am honored to be part of this return of Elvis to the stage, and to see The TCB Band once again bringing his music to life with new unseen footage and a few surprises. Jerry Schilling and I will be sharing stories and screening amazingly intimate home movies. This will be a once in a lifetime show… you won’t want to miss it.”

Elvis’ music career began in Memphis, Tenn., in 1954, and he ultimately became a standout in fast-tempo country music and blues. Presley burst onto the scene with the chart-topper “Heartbreak Hotel,” before venturing into film and TV.

Presley became the face of the emerging rock-and-roll movement, and after an extended time away from music, regained fame in his now-famous Las Vegas residency.

Other hits include “All Shook Up,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “Love Me Tender,” and numerous others.

He passed away suddenly in 1977 at the age of 42, but his legacy has withstood the test of time, as he remains one of the music notable celebrities to have ever lived. He is also the best-selling solo artist of all time.

Just listen to his words…”who would have thought I’D ever say goodbye”. The emphasis is on the word “I’D” which Jesse chose for his leaving us in 1977. I believe the original word in the song was “we’d“.😁🎼🎶❤️

This is my favorite song on this 15 song CD.

Yes, this is Elvis. He did not die…only the image died. I have been personal friends with him for 27 years. He chose me to be his “voice” and I have been doing so for over 10 years on my websites which is done with his permission, approval and support. You may actually read a letter which he wrote in his own handwriting for me to share on my website regarding the filming of the movie “Elvis Found Alive” which was released in conjunction with this CD. Below is the link to my page on which his letter appears. https://lindahoodsigmontruth.com/hear-elvisjesses-current-voice-as-it-sounds-today

The below has always been one of my most favorite songs by Elvis.  Below is a photo of the words to the introduction of this song which I typed and framed many years ago.  I keep this hanging on the wall or sitting on a shelf.  These words should inspire us all to have more compassion for everyone we meet.  Hearing Elvis speak these words is so beautiful.

I want to share with everyone that Jesse called tonight and we had a good time speaking.  He is well and sounded great.  He asked about our little puppy “Daisy” and I enjoy telling him about her…I have been sending photos of her.  He said that he would like to have a dog too…but his situation is not favorable for that.  His call certainly made my day as always.  I am so thankful for Jesse in my life.

The below article is from a compilation of Harley-Davidson stories some of which are possibly true and some which definitely are not true.  This one about one of Elvis’ motorcycles is among the “definitely not true” stories.

NOT TRUE: ELVIS’ HARLEY WAS FOUND IN A BARN AND POSSIBLY SOLD TO JAY LENO

via Visordown

An urban legend says someone found Elvis Presley’s old Harley in an old barn with a gas tank that had been autographed by The King himself. In a variation on the same myth, Jay Leno offered $750,000 to get his hands on Elvis’ Harley, but ended up paying an astonishing $2.5 million.

Leno has denied that the story is true, in fact, the bikes Elvis actually owned are all found in museums.

Jesse told me once that Bruce Springsteen wrote the song “Fire” for Elvis to record but he never got the song to Elvis.  Jesse said that song would have been perfect for him.  I am certain that it would make Bruce feel really good knowing that Elvis did like his song and would have liked to record it.

Jesse called tonight and he is well.  We didn’t talk too long this time…short and sweet.  He is looking forward to Halloween and he was telling me what little Nick is going as.  He comes trick or treating to Jesse’s home and brings his friends with him.  I know they will have lots of fun.  Jesse is getting an Xbox game so that he and Nick can enjoy a game together on Nick’s Xbox.  As always, his call was the brightest spot in my day.

Another good show coming next weekend:

Presley, Perkins, Lewis & Cash: Four ‘legends’ will rock Barre

screenshotAtUploadCC_1571511271586

If you’ve been following Ken Burns’ epic PBS series “Country Music,” which recently ran in Vermont, and cued in on segment 4, you’ve got a pretty good idea of the musical milieu that was Memphis in the mid-1950s. The city was a hotbed of musical entertainment, the blues mixing with hillbilly and country music styles. In some ways it was more advanced than its more popular Tennessee music-producing city of Nashville.

There was more experimentation going on in Memphis’ small recording industry and a leader was Sun Records run by a soon to be acknowledged musical seer Sam Phillips. By 1956, Phillips had discovered and recorded four singers who would shake the world of country and western music, help define a new style of pop music, and eventually lead to the growth of rock ’n’ roll.

Phillips recorded Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash during this period. They were debut records for each musician and the sound they produced became known as rockabilly.

Later on, Presley would give a lift to the emerging sound of rock. Perkins would become the acknowledged sound of rockabilly, Lewis would add a wild man approach to rock, and Cash would become a new face in the musical style that became known simply as country.

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, Presley, Perkins, Lewis & Cash — the number-one and official tribute band featuring performers from Broadway’s “Million Dollar Quartet” — will come to The Barre Opera House.

This performance can only be seen as nostalgia in the extreme. These performers’ heyday was over 60 years ago, and with the exception of Lewis, now in his 80s, they have all passed on.

The premise of the show revolves around the four performers who came together for an impromptu all-night jam session in 1956. It’s now considered a seminal moment in rock ’n’ roll. In the PBS segment there is an all too briefly shown photo of the four men, all in their 20s, in a head shot. We know that early in their careers, Presley and Cash toured together, and apparently Cash did a parody of Presley’s style that was filmed and appears in the PBS segment.

The BOH show is based on the same actual event as the Broadway show. According to Branson.com, on Dec. 4, 1956, the four young soon-to-be-famous singers found themselves in a Sun studio together and a jam session ensued.

At the time, according to Billboard Magazine, Presley had the top two records for that year, “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Don’t Be Cruel.” Three other Presley songs were in the Top 50.

On July 7, 1956, Cash stepped onto the Grand Ole Opry stage for the first time. His “I Walk the Line” was one of the summer’s biggest hits. “Blue Suede Shoes” was also a big hit in 1956, the up-tempo rockabilly song written and recorded by Carl Perkins.

Lewis wasn’t yet known outside Memphis, but that day Sun Records owner Sam Phillips brought Lewis in to play piano for a recording session scheduled for Perkins. When Cash stopped by the studio, and later Presley, the evening became one of the most memorable nights in music history.

We’re not sure who the performers who recreate the four famous musicians are, but from Youtube videos of samples of the show, they are a talented bunch. Besides the guitarists and Lewis on piano, the band includes a drummer and a stand-up bass player. About the only aspect of the show that rang false, and this is from a guitar nerd’s perspective, is that the Presley and Cash characters did not play the Martin guitars that the original performers used.

The playlist, we assume, will include Perkins’ “Blue Suede Shoes” and Presley’s “Hound Dog,” to “Great Balls of Fire” by Lewis and “Walk the Line” by Cash, among other hits the four recorded.

According to published articles about the show, it opens with Perkins performing his hits while offering up stories about life as a sharecropper’s son and his musical influences.

“Midway through his set Carl invites session musician Jerry Lee Lewis to join him, where Jerry seizes the opportunity to front the band and lead the audience on a musical journey from New Orleans to Nashville and eventually into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As Jerry puts the finishing touches on a set including country music, gospel and ‘Great Balls of Fire,’ the audience will have an opportunity to catch their breath as Johnny Cash comes on stage, with his signature “Hello… I’m Johnny Cash.”

Next up is Presley, who “electrifies the audience transporting them back to his beginnings where he went from driving a truck to delivering 11 number-one hits between 1956-1959.’”

If you love early rock ’n’ roll and rockabilly, if you were a child of the 1940s and early ‘50s, this is a show you should not miss. For those whose only familiarity with these seminal musicians is through recordings, here’s a chance to see their styles, early in their careers, recreated by several talented performers.

I loved reading the following excerpt from an article about Larry Gatlin.  Larry wrote many songs and below he tells of a performance of one of his songs by Elvis.  This is so touching…

Larry Gatlin draws inspiration from John Steinbeck

Elvis Presley recorded one of the songwriter’s gospel songs, “Help Me.”

“He lowered the microphone and sang the whole song on his knees with his hands raised to God,” Gatlin said. “That’s kind of a chilling, humbling moment.”

I enjoyed the below video regarding Elvis’ uncle Vester Presley, his wife and daughter.  Tom and I were so happy that we met Mr. Presley and had a nice chat with him during one of our visits to Graceland.  Our chance meeting with him was in the ticket lobby across from Graceland early one morning.  Sadly, we did not even have our camera with us that morning and we missed getting our photo taken with him.  He was wonderfully friendly and was so generous with his time speaking with us.  He seemed like someone we had known all of our lives.  His mother’s maiden name was Hood as is my maiden name.  So, we spoke about his mother’s relatives and that was so interesting.

Even though we did not get to have our photo taken with him during our time speaking with him, we had seen him on the street speaking to some other people during one of our earlier visits to Graceland and Tom snapped a photo of him then.  I was too shy to stand and wait for him to finish his visit with others so I could speak with him.  But, it was wonderful to see him and get a photo.

Below is the photo which we took.  I see on the back that we took this photo in Oct. 1988.  This was during our second trip to Memphis and our third tour of Graceland.  Our first Graceland trip was in 1985.IMG_20191025_0001

The Top-Earning Dead Celebrities Of 2019

You can’t stop the music, even when its creator has shuffled off this mortal coil. That’s evident in the makeup of our Halloween-spooky ranking of highest-paid dead celebrities, where nine musicians grace the list of 13, up from just six a year ago.

Deceased: August 16, 1977

Cause of death: Heart Attack

For decades, 500,000-plus visitors have made the pilgrimage to Graceland annually, prompting a recent $45 million addition called Elvis Presley’s Memphis. Up next: a biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann, starring Tom Hanks.

I am so happy and relieved to be able to post that Jesse just called a little bit ago.  I have been very concerned about his health.  The last thing I knew was that he had a fever and that he thought that it was either a bad cold or the flu.  The reason that I haven’t heard from him since then is because he has been in the hospital with double pneumonia.  He has had a really bad cough.  He is still on antibiotics but is home now and says he is about 80% better.  I am so very thankful to have spoken with him.  Other than a cough, he sounds very good and strong.

I reached a decision about the status hereafter on my Facebook Elvis/Jesse Presley page.  Below is my statement which I posted last night on that page:

I have deleted the posted articles on this page. I have retained the most recent items which I posted leading up to my decision to remove as much of the page’s content as possible.

The whole purpose of this page was to introduce people to my websites on which everyone may read, see, hear, and evaluate the truth which Elvis himself allows me to share.

Please check out the REAL proof authorized by Elvis himself on my websites. You need to know the truth before you speak.

I ask that everyone understand that I am weary of being attacked by those who have their eyes and their minds closed to the truth. It is their loss. Ironically many of the aggressive attacks came from people who had never even been to my websites.

I may occasionally post just a link to a page on my website which I feel may enlighten the ignorant and the blind.

I shall not respond to any further comments posted on this page.

I truly appreciate everyone who has participated in this page and for the support and appreciation which has been expressed to me.
