I am so happy to share that Jesse called me this evening. We did have a very nice phone visit. He is doing better from his stomach problem and is feeling pretty well. We talked about Christmas a little. Spoke about several mutual friends. There is no news to share this time. As always, it certainly was a wonderfully bright spot of my day.

My good long-time friend, Deb O., shared the below with me and I loved reading it so much that I want to share it here so my visitors can enjoy it also.
Hugs to Deb for thinking to send this to me.
The First Time I Met Elvis
The only member I hadn’t yet met was Elvis himself. As I’ve said, I was certainly familiar with his music—and liked much of it—but I wasn’t what would be considered a huge fan. When I met him, though, I immediately understood the attraction that fans had to him. I thought, “Wow, there’s a reason this guy is the biggest star in the world.” It sounds like a fantasy or a cliché, but I swear you could almost sense him before he walked into a room.
On this occasion, he was “fashionably late.” Everyone was ready, even anxious to begin but, as we would learn, rehearsals—like recording sessions and sometimes concerts—would begin only when Elvis was ready for them to begin. Eventually, we heard footsteps coming down the hall and then, suddenly, the door to the ballroom opened and in walked “the guys.” It seemed as if there were six or more guys who came in and then parted, like the Red Sea, to reveal Elvis strolling in behind them, looking every bit like the King of Rock. He was dressed exactly like one might expect to see him: a dark two-piece suit with his signature high, Napoleonic collar, a patterned high-collared shirt, and carrying a black cane with a gold ornament on top. He immediately came over to J.D. and grabbed him in a bear hug.
While it’s been told many times, J.D. had been somewhat of a hero to Elvis when he was growing up. As the bass singer for The Blackwood Brothers, he had allowed Elvis to come in the back door of various Memphis all-night gospel sings—long before Elvis could afford to buy a ticket, let alone became famous himself. Also, when Elvis’s mother died, J.D. and the rest of the Blackwoods sang at her funeral. Elvis never forgot J.D.’s kindness, and as he did with so many others, he seemed to make it part of his life’s work to repay such kindnesses many times over.
Standing in that hotel ballroom, Elvis and J.D. quickly caught up, and soon J.D. began introducing each one of us to him. Elvis interrupted him to say he didn’t need the introductions because he felt as if he already knew us. He hugged me and then we shook hands. I still remember looking into his eyes that first time. The magnetism was indescribable. I couldn’t believe that he knew my name and knew that I was the bass singer. I don’t know how we gathered ourselves well enough to sing at that rehearsal, but apparently we did. I just kept thinking over and over that there was Elvis Presley, and here we were singing with him. It was a feeling that would continue every night; it never got old to me.

Elvis Presley’s 85th Birthday to Be Commemorated With Exhibition of Unseen Photos
This was shared with me by a Facebook friend Patricia B. I really liked this!
I related to this so strongly that I wanted to share it here with my visitors. This has been the story of my life since I began my website over 10 years ago. Mickey Moran has been one of the worst perpetrators of this type of hatred toward me. Jesse has reminded me a number of times that jealousy is the reason behind many of the attacks upon me.

Graceland Named Best Holiday Historic Home Tour
For the second year in a row, Elvis Presley’s Graceland was announced today by 10Best.com as the nation’s “Best Holiday Historic Home Tour” in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Graceland was voted into the top spot by Elvis fans and readers of USA Today’s popular 10Best online travel site. Graceland was among 20 of the nation’s most historic homes nominated by a panel of travel writers and photographers during the annual Readers’ Choice contest, which also recognizes travel destinations, attractions, food and more.
This year marks an impressive seventh USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Award win for Elvis Presley’s legendary home, which was also voted the 2019 “Best Tennessee Attraction and Iconic Landmark,” as well as “Best Tennessee Attraction” and “Best Musical Attraction” in 2018, “Best Historic Southern Attraction” in 2015, and the #1 “Iconic American Attraction” in 2013 by USA Today 10Best readers.
Christmas is an especially magical time at Graceland, as the mansion is decorated for the holidays using Elvis’ original Christmas lights and decorations. The extensive Christmas display at the king’s castle includes hundreds of blue lights along the driveway, a life-size Nativity scene, Santa and his sleigh, and much more, all originally displayed at Graceland by Elvis and the Presley family. The interiors of Graceland mansion feature the Presley family’s Christmas décor including Elvis’ traditional red velvet drapes as well as Presley family Christmas artifacts on display around several decorated trees throughout the home.
Fans of the King and the iconic Mansion can experience the holiday magic for themselves and get a firsthand look at why Graceland was voted 2019’s “Best Holiday Historic Home Tour” now through Elvis’ 85th Birthday Celebration in January 2020.
I just came across this website today. I cannot tell who the individual owner of this site is. The only thing I know for certain is that they have swiped a comparison image from my website to feature on their site. I won’t waste my time trying to find out who is hiding behind this website. They are “selling” Jesse’s book on Amazon and describing it as “my book“. I have no idea how long this site has been in existence but it does not go back too far because the image which they have taken from my website has not been in existence for an awful lot of years. My name is not mentioned at all in this ad.
They also have links at the bottom to other items which can be bought including the DVD of “Elvis Presley Gladiators“.
The title of this website is “Elvis Jesse Presley“
Below is a screen capture from their site showing a few lines from one of Jesse’s letters from the book along with my comparison photo image from my website and which I use for my banner on my Facebook page.
I do feel that it is very rude to use my image on this site without even asking my permission or acknowledging the source of the image on their page. Especially since I AM the person to whom Elvis/Jesse personally gave the copy of his photo in the first place way back in July, 1997. However, I won’t waste any more of my time dwelling on this, yet another, slight of myself. Too old, too tired, too bad of health, too busy, etc.
Here is the link to their website: http://www.moreenergy.tv/elvis_jesse.html
I am certain that they will appreciate my “advertising” their website for them. Ha, ha!

Back in August, I posted the typewritten transcript of a letter which Jesse wrote to Hinton in December, 2001. My good friend, Dennis F. Miller, reminded me of the typed letter recently and so I went back looking for the handwritten copy of this letter which I had not thought of in some years.
Below is the handwritten letter by Jesse which he sent to Hinton. I posted this handwritten letter on my original website on the Current News page for October, 2013. However, in looking back while gathering my copies for my article now, I found that most of that page had been destroyed and the letter was lost from that original article. So, most of my current visitors most likely have never seen this letter. The handwriting is difficult to read. But, since you have the typed transcript to which you may refer, it will be easier to read. I will post the typed version above the handwritten version.

There is a copy of Jesse’s book for sale on Ebay at a very low starting bid for those who may be interested.

Jesse called late this afternoon and we had a very nice Christmas visit. He is well today. We talked for quite a bit and had some laughs…so it was a wonderful blessing in my day.
He said that he has enjoyed reading the messages which have been posted on the Messages for Jesse page which I have printed out and sent to him for the past two Fridays. He said that he saw some names of people that he remembers for having sent things to him in the past.
He asked me to pass along his thanks to those who have sent gifts to him and for little Nick and his little sister. He said that he is sorry that he has not gotten around to thanking each person individually. He said that he really appreciates the people who did send things.
As always, his call was a wonderful blessing for my day and for my Christmas.

Very Rare Telephone Interview with Elvis On The Movie Set
